PEI offers more than its magnificence history and culture to visitors; there are more than 90 beautiful sand dunes beaches for swimming and boating; surprisingly warm waves wash its beaches, and the island's population increases fivefold in summer. Prince Edward Island National Park has a large beach with reddish sand, sand dunes, salt marshes and red sandstone cliffs. Visitors enjoy farmsteads, Victorian villages, tidy, and lobster suppers in steepled churches. Tourists come from around the world to visit Green Gables House. It is a museum about L.M. Montgomery, author of the Anne of Green Gables books. In 1997 the Confederation Bridge was opened for transportation between New Brunswick and PEI and is almost 13 km long. It takes 12 minutes to cross the bridge. The Charlottetown is the largest city and birth place of the Canada history.
